A recent report issued by leading American micro-blogging and social networking service, Twitter, shows that some of the Middle East region’s premiere automotive brands are now making use of the service in the efforts to maintain stronger ties with potential and existing customers. Despite being heavily affected by the emergence of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) last year, the auto industry has witnessed a key shift in how consumers are connecting with these top brands — with Twitter demonstrating high growth in terms of Monetizable Daily Users (mDAU’s).

According to Twitter senior officials, a survey was conducted across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to determine the significant role that the service plays in the customer’s purchasing process. Based on the study, it was found out that around nine out of ten potential car buyers will first look around Twitter before making a purchase decision. These buyers look towards the micro-blogging site for information and details on brands, special deals, automobile launches and performance reviews.

The survey also aimed at learning more about the state of the automotive industry as it hurdles past challenges posed by COVID-19, including the noticeable increase in e-commerce activity.

However, despite the increased activity of online sales, 84 per cent of KSA respondents and 60 per cent of UAE respondents were not fully aware of online auto transactions, including special promotions and deals. Meanwhile, those who were able to tap into these promotions were able to take part in virtual car tours — an engaging new way to learn more about the car you wish to buy.

Industry experts have revealed that top auto brands will continue to utilize Twitter to communicate with their intended audiences — implementing specialized campaign strategies that will surely get your attention.
